Laughter is Sad

Nagesh, is no more. A great actor and the best comedians of anytime died yesterday. A gifted comedian who donned many roles including a hero, anti hero, dead body and the list goes on... His movie Server Sundaram, is a realistic portrayal of his own life where after he has made his career, went home only to find his mom no more. 

He has been a regular of KB camp and Kamal's most favorite comedian. 

We will all miss his ways and means of making us laugh. Today he has made us cry as well something he hasnt done in his films.

Perumazhakalam

“The greatest tragedy in mankind's entire history may be the hijacking of morality by religion.”

With the words of Arthur Clarke ringing true, human emotions are so often get weighed down in the name of Religion. This is heightened in the movies. Thankfully Perumazhakalam (When it rains hard) doesnt fall under this category.

Directed by Kamal, produced by Salim Padiyath, this movie centers around the subject of two yound married women, one whose husband is killed by the other's husband. The only way out to rescue from the death sentence is by a letter of pardon by the widow.

Meera Jasmine (Razia) portrays the character so well, it fetched her the national award. Ganga (Kavya Madhavan) as the widow, gives a sterling perfomance though her footage is very limited.

The use of Hindustani Classical music as a background score is so apt that it pinches you with the pain undergone by these ladies. 

A must watch for all lovers of GOOD CINEMA.  Rating *****
